| Learnlets by Jeroen Lapré 12Oct2K7 A proposal for object oriented, semantically driven educational software modules. Organic Learning Traditional teaching methods compartmentalise topics inside artificial boundaries. Mad Meme Labs believes that a student's learning should be driven by their own curiosity and interests. Knowledge should grow organically, and interconnected, to reflect the natural world. Motivation The human species faces unprecedented challenges in the 21st Century: Global warming, civil unrest, etc. We need to bring education into the 21st century by utilising the cutting edge in object oriented software developement, the semantic web, and artificial intelligence. A learnlet is a software module that represents an atomic concept. e.g. Physical thing, mass, energy, friction, etc. When the student explores the properties of these modules, they learn about these real world properties in an intuitive, exploration-driven manner. Each learnlet interects with each other through semantic interfaces. Think of them as "learning lego". Through play, the student learns real lessons about real world, or equally important abstract / mathematical concepts through repeatable, and emergent behaviour between the learnlets.
